Let me start by saying that I am not a fashion blogger. That being said, just a few weeks ago I had the pleasure of walking in my first ever fashion show. Are you wondering how in the world that happened? Keep reading…
Shortly after moving to Derby, my sisters and I attended “Shops at the Park.” Shops at the Park is a local event that happens just about every season where a handful of shops set up at the park. It was the perfect way for a newcomer to get familiar with the local shopping scene. I remember it was around one of my favorite holidays, Saint Patrick’s Day! My sister bought the most adorable Kansas-Shamrock T Shirt from a shop called Georgie St Boutique.
After the Shops at the Park Spring event, I joined the Georgie St Boutique VIP group on Facebook. One day the Tayler (the owner) posted that she was putting together a fashion show fundraiser and needed models. Before the side of me that was thinking how nerve wrecking it would be to walk in a fashion show could intervene, the side of me that absolutely loves fundraisers volunteered.
Tayler was raising money for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, a cause near and dear to her heart. The guest of honor at the fashion show was Tayler’s 9 month old niece, Aspen, who has Cystic Fibrosis (pictured above). There were other boutiques set up for shopping and at the end of the night they raised just over $3,000!
As nervous as I was, I am so glad I was a part of it! My favorite part was meeting the other models. Pictured above from left to right: Heather, Hayley, Brittney, Tayler, Jessica and myself.
I got to wear this floral high-low dress with nude wedge heels. It was so flattering and the perfect length for me (I am 5’1″ and can’t always wear maxi dresses).
Jessica got to wear this army inspired jacket with the most perfect fall tee, jeans, and the cutest booties (I know at least one model who bought these that night).
Bonus: Jessica also happens to be a hairdresser, who specializes in weddings and special events. Check out Love Is In The Hair on Facebook!
Heather got to wear this comfy sweater with jeans and the funnest leopard print shoes.
Hayley got to wear this adorable lavender frayed sweater, jeans, and nude wedges. She wore this sweater off the shoulder, but it also looked adorable on the shoulder. Yay for two looks in one!
Last but certainly not least, Brittney got to wear this black jumpsuit and this perfectly paired olive scalloped kimono.
Bonus: Brittney happens to own Park Grounds Coffeehouse. I am a big fan of both the irish cream latte and the english toffee latte. Also, the story time events for kiddos. If you haven’t yet, stop by 401 Madison and check it out!
So, there you have it – my first all fashion blog post. What was your favorite look?
